    Foster Giesmann (1915 - 2001)
was a master of ornamenting oval pieces with a special lathe and refined mechanical devices for different ornamenting processes, all designed and made by himself.
Foster Geismann worked in the glass industry as a Master Mold and Pattern Maker. It was in glass mold making that he first learned oval turning, making cast iron molds on a thirty-six inch machinists lathe. The cutting of the designs for these molds laid the foundation for his ornamental wood turnings.
