    Description

Up for sale, a 1966 Silvertone 1483 "piggyback" tube amplifier in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete right down to the Silvertone-branded tube set. Officially sold as a bass amp, yet covering tonal ground more in-line with a guitar player's needs, this amp was made in the USA by Danelectro and marketed through Sears' Silvertone line of instruments.
Pushing roughly 30 all-tube watts via a pair of 6L6 power tubes, the Silvertone 1483's tube rectified circuit drives the original 15" Jensen C15P speaker, delivering a dynamic sound with smooth, rich tube breakup. The controls are simple and intuitive, and the 1483 has found favor with notable players from REM to Jack White to Beck.
The circuit is untouched, right down to the original two-prong power cable and hard-wired 1/4" speaker cable. The CTS pots date to the 10th week of 1966, while the original Jensen 15" C15P speaker dates back to the 39th week of '65. The tube complement includes matched RCA 6L6GCs and a Silvertone-branded 5Y3 rectifier and preamp tubes, all original and USA-made. Cosmetically, this amp is in lovely shape, with the original gray textured exterior and only very light edge wear, mostly relegated to the speaker cabinet. The grillcloth has plenty of sparkle left in the thread, complete with raised Silvertone badge.
